We are all counting down the days till #Springbreak2k15 when we can sleep in late, have fun and forget about school for an ENTIRE WEEK! The thing is…. we still have to battle through dreaded midterms before we can enjoy some time to relax.
I never used to look at my midterm grades before #Springbreak because if I didn’t do as well as I wanted, my week would be ruined. My thought was, “I’ll just deal with it when I get back.”
Fortunately, I learned how to be a QUEEN over my work. What the heck does that mean?? Well, I realized that if I did certain things, I had power and authority to RULE over my work and manage my stress.
So how do I stay focused when freedom is so close yet so far?
1. Jot it down
Since I’m super forgetful, I always keep a small agenda book of all the work that I am assigned and the dates it is due. This prevents me from being surprised the day before a paper is due when my best friend asks if I finished yet.
Know what is due first and what will take the longest to do. Set start and finish dates for each assignment.
3. We’re all in this TOGETHER
Doing work with a friend can help you stay focused and make you feel like you’re not the only one who has a bunch of work to do. Plus, your friend can keep you accountable for your due dates.
4. TIME OUT!
Don’t overwhelm yourself trying to get it all done at once. Take frequent breaks to let your mind relax.
5. E.T. Phone Home
Call a friend when you feel overwhelmed with work. It can help you take your mind off of the stuff you have to do. I like to pick friends who are funny or have the latest gossip. ;)
6. Google or YouTube
Sometimes the way the teacher explained something makes no sense to you. Google or YouTube may have videos or explanations that can help.
I7. It’s so worth it
At the end of the day, YOU DID IT! Think about what this means for your future in the class, better final grade, acceptance into college and so much more.
