Between visits to the salon, sometimes a little TLC (tender loving care) at home makes all the difference! A quick mix of a few common grocery items can give your hair that extra boost of moisture to last you until your next appointment with your professional stylist.
Our hair craves moisture and protein – two things that can be found in our everyday meals. Avocado, coconut oil, egg, and mayonnaise have a power punch of each of those! And as always, organic ingredients are best!
1. Avocado (moisture) - Mends, heals, & revitalizes lifeless hair; 2. Coconut Oil (moisture) - Stimulates hair growth, fights dry scalp and dandruff; 3. Egg (protein) - Strengthens the core of the hair strand, preventing hair loss; and 4. Mayonnaise (protein & moisture)- Restores the natural pH balance of hair, fills in unhealthy gaps for stronger hair, and protects from harmful effects of hair products
Simply peel and seed 1 avocado, add 1 cup of mayonnaise, 1 whole egg, and 1 tablespoon of coconut oil, then mix until it's creamy smooth. Apply to the hair from the roots to the tips of every strand. Heat is not required, as it may "cook" the egg into your hair. Cover your hair with a shower cap for a minimum of 20 minutes.
Rinse and shampoo your hair to completely remove any conditioning residue and allow to air dry as long as possible. You can even add about 1 teaspoon of coconut oil throughout your damp hair for extra luster, shine and weightless moisture.
