How many times have you changed something about yourself like your hairstyle, wardrobe or even your personality just to get a guy you’re interested in to notice you? Maybe you have even changed just to get the attention of someone that you wanted to be friends with. I’ll be the first to admit that I've done all that, and sadly, none of it worked. When I look back, I remember telling myself that I should try all of these things to get their attention and now I realize that I wasn't truly loving myself for who I was, and the special and unique qualities that I possessed.
A song came out last year that I wish would have been around during the time I was trying to change myself to conform to other people’s standards. The song is called “Try” by Colbie Caillat. The song talks about how you don't have to try to get people's attention, and that you have to love yourself first. I love one particular line that says “Wait a second - why should you care what they think of you, when you’re all alone by yourself do you like you?" Those words are so eye opening! She’s right – why should you care what other people think of you, because at the end of the day when you are by yourself, do you like you or are you feeding off of what people have to say about you? Don't get me wrong, it’s okay to pamper yourself, and treat yourself like the beautiful queen you are, but who are really doing all this for? You don't have to change -- love yourself and the beautiful qualities that you possess.
