Our January Monthly Decree: Make It Count!
January 2, 2015
make it count
It doesn’t matter what age you are, we all get up in the morning with a full day of life ahead of us. Looking back on past years, months and days, I have realized one thing:
I get to choose! I get to choose the smallest of details, like how I am going to fix my hair, what kind of music I listen to or what color socks I am going to wear for the day. But even more importantly, I realize that I get to choose what I think about, how I treat people, how hard I work and whether or not I want to help someone in need. I get to choose. As a Queen, I realize that every choice I make not only impacts my day or life, but those decisions impact how others view me. My level of self-respect, self-worth and commitment to the things that are important to me send a very strong message to everyone I come in contact with….after all, I am a Queen. This month I want to encourage you to think about EVERYTHING you do and say and WHY you say or do it! If we only get one life to live, shouldn’t we think about everything we do to make it count?
It matters where and on what you spend your time. The one thing in life that we have all been given is time. Some people have more time on earth than others, but if we have been privileged to have it, then we need to spend it wisely. Unlike money, we can’t save up time and spend it when we want. We can only spend it how we want. Time is always passing. With that in mind, have you ever thought about intentionally making every moment count? How different would your life be if everything you did was done with the realization that this event, moment, conversation, homework assignment, test, or practice will really never happen again? What is very true is that no two chances are the same and often a second chance is not given.
A Queen understands that every moment counts. She is aware that the talent she has been blessed with, the confidence and authority that she walks in, and the time in school or with family is not something to be taken lightly. A Queen doesn’t have time for the drama that negative influences can bring. This month take time and consider all the ways you can make the most of your relationships, your classes, your athletic practices, church groups and family in a more positive and productive way.
There may never be a procession of people, bodyguards or news cameras following you when you walk into a room, but your smile, gracious attitude and positive energy should let to everyone that the Queen has arrived! It’s time to make every moment in your life count!
A note of encouragement:
COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS Negative thoughts lead to negative actions. When you feel like the whole world is resisting you, count your blessings! An “attitude of gratitude” is the best way to beat depression, negative energy and feelings of being overwhelmed with emotions.
